Request An AppointmentPositive Early Dental Experiences
We are committed to creating positive early dental experiences for our young patients, so that they are more likely to maintain good oral hygiene habits and feel comfortable visiting the dentist as they grow up.
We want kids to enjoy visiting the dentist!
We help kids feel at ease from the minute they enter our dental office. When you arrive, our friendly team will welcome you and your child. You can wait for your appointment in our reception area, where we have books and toys to keep your child entertained.
Once your child is in the dentist's chair, the dentist and hygienist will talk to them about their dental health in language they understand, and answer all their questions.
We are happy to work at your child's pace, and will take breaks if they get overwhelmed.
Dental Services for Children in Lethbridge
Southridge Dental provides the following treatment options for children:
- Cleanings & Checkups
Regular dental checkups and cleanings are important for developing smiles. Children should visit the dentist every six months to help prevent dental problems from developing, and to catch and treat those that are already developing early.
In addition, the dentist will monitor your child's baby teeth to ensure healthy oral development. Baby teeth allow children to chew and digest their food properly, and they act as guides for the adult teeth as they erupt as well. For these reasons, it's essential that they grow in properly, and don't fall out too early.
- Fluoride Treatment
Fluoride is a natural mineral that helps prevent tooth decay. At Southridge Dental, we provide fluoride treatment for children to help keep their teeth strong and resistant to decay.
- Dental Fillings
Despite best efforts, sometimes kids end up with cavities. Cavity treatment for children is much like that for adults, because preserving tooth health is the main focus.
To preserve your child’s oral health, your dentist will remove the decayed material from the baby teeth and fill them.

- Dental Sealants
Molars and premolars often have deep fissures in them that are difficult for children to clean with regular brushing.
Dental sealants are applied to the molars and premolars to help protect them from developing cavities in these fissures. They help seal off the fissures so that bacteria and plaque cannot build up inside them.
- Early Orthodontic Treatment
At each of your child's dental appointments, the dentist will monitor their growing smile for any sign of developing misalignments. If a problem is observed, early orthodontic intervention can prevent it from getting worse, meaning that more invasive orthodontic treatment may not be required when your child is older.
- Oral Hygiene Guidance
During each appointment that your child attends, the dentist or hygienist will review correct oral hygiene techniques with your child to ensure that each tooth is getting properly cleaned at home. Brushing and flossing instruction will be reviewed, and they can also make suggestions for supplementary hygiene aids, provide dietary advice, and more.
