What is a Dental Bridge?
Our Lethbridge dentists use a dental bridge to literally 'bridge' the gap left by missing teeth. Made up of one or more artificial teeth, the bridge is affixed to the teeth on either side of the gap to fill the space.
The Bridge Procedure
The dental bridge procedure usually requires two appointments.
Your dentist will begin by recontouring the teeth and taking impressions, based on which your new bridge will be constructed.
You will then be provided with a temporary bridge to wear until your custom bridge is ready.
During your second appointment, your dentist will remove the temporary bridge and fit your new bridge into place. It will be permanently bonded it to the natural teeth, implants, crowns around the gap.
Benefits Of Dental Bridges
A dental bridge can restore the natural contour of your teeth and also your bite (the way your upper and lower teeth fit together).
Your dental bridge will be custom made for you and should blend in with your natural teeth very well.
The bridge can also prevent the surrounding teeth from shifting out of position into the gap and causing further dental issues, like gum disease or a bad bite.
